Imperium Host 4th Annual Charity Padel Tennis Tournament
Imperium hosted their fourth annual charity Padel Tennis event last week in Guernsey in support of Parkinson’s Guernsey; a fantastic local charity that helps people with Parkinson’s disease to continue to live life to the full whilst also providing support and education to the families of those affected.
Each year, the money raised from the tournament is ring-fenced by Parkinson’s Guernsey and used to pay for court hire fees and coaching for a number of local Guernsey residents who are in the early stages of Parkinson’s Disease. One of the 20 teams in the competition was a team representing Parkinson’s Guernsey, who have benefitted from the funds raised last year and now compete in the Guernsey Padel Leagues. This year, the event has raised £1,500 for the charity.
Euan Melrose commented “The event this year was a huge success, with a couple of our regular participants noting that this was the highlight of their summer business development calendar. To have our first ever entrants from a UK based firm was really exciting and to have a team from Parkinson’s Guernsey was particularly special; showing first-hand to our other entrants the good work their donations go towards”.
Jane Tullier, a Director of Parkinson’s Guernsey said “Parkinson’s Guernsey is delighted that Imperium Trust Company Limited supported our charity in 2024 through their Annual Padel Doubles Tournament. After the 2023 Tournament we confirmed that the money raised will fund one court per week, for a year, for people with Parkinson’s. Padel has proved immensely popular and some of those we have introduced to the game have gone on to join leagues. More and more evidence suggests that high intensity exercise like Padel is very beneficial for people with Parkinson’s. This year, we were able to enter a team into the Tournament and, whilst they didn’t win, in our eyes they were winners! We are so very grateful to Imperium’ for their ongoing support.”
Congratulations to SPF who defended their trophy this year:
Another congratulations to PWC, who on their first time of entering won the Plate:
