Imperium team up with Jersey Trees for Life

Imperium has collaborated with Jersey Trees for Life in their ongoing Hedgerow Campaign.
The Imperium team spent a full day planting in the depths of St Ouen, marking the season’s final corporate volunteering event. Nineteen participants from Imperium Jersey took part, working diligently to plant 800 native hedgerow species. Their collective efforts aimed to create new wildlife habitats and corridors, prevent soil erosion and enhance the island’s biodiversity.
The Hedgerow Campaign, spearheaded by Jersey Trees for Life, has been pivotal in restoring and expanding Jersey’s hedgerow network. In the winter of 2023/24 alone, the campaign saw the planting of over 13,000 trees and whips, underscoring the community’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Hedgerows play a crucial role in the environment, acting as natural windbreaks, preventing soil erosion, and providing food and shelter for local wildlife, including birds, insects, and small mammals. By restoring these natural borders, the initiative helps maintain Jersey’s rich biodiversity while also reinforcing traditional rural landscapes.
The tree-planting session, which assisted the charity’s efforts, also doubled as a team-building event for Imperium Jersey.
Imperium Jersey Managing Director Simon Young said: “Getting outside in the fresh air and working together as a team to achieve the planting target was such a great initiative. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day; it was honestly one of the best events we have held. I’d recommend working with Jersey Trees for Life to any group. Seeing your hard work in the ground and knowing it will be there for seasons to come is very satisfying.”
