UK Law Firm to Speak at Guernsey NED Club

26 May 2023

UK law firm DLA Piper will be in Guernsey next month to speak at The Imperium NED Breakfast Club.

Newly appointed DLA Piper Partner Sam Whittaker will lead the forum’s discussion. Sam is an investment management and funds lawyer with a focus on real estate and venture capital funds but also advises on most other types of investment funds, including debt funds, hedge funds and private equity funds.

Sam will share his insights from working with first time mangers and the current fundraising environment.  Having experience of working with Guernsey funds Sam will also draw on this and share his insights from other jurisdictions.

The breakfast club which is celebrating its 1st anniversary aims to inform and educate Non-Executive Directors (“NEDs”), keeping them abreast of current trends and regulatory matters.

The Club was founded by Guernsey fund services firm Imperium with an aim of making knowledge and expertise available to the NED community and providing a comfortable forum where NEDs could share their experiences with peers.

Over the past year a variety of speakers have addressed the forum including a former regulator, fund litigation expert and Private Equity legend.

Barry McClay, Imperium Funds Managing Director said: “We’re delighted to have Sam coming to Guernsey, it is always fantastic for our local community to hear an outside perspective and Sam is in a unique position to share his insights.  For Guernsey to remain competitive it is imperative we are aware of how we compare to other jurisdictions and appreciate Guernsey’s unique position.”

The breakfast series is open to Non-Executive Directors in Guernsey, and anyone interested in attending should in the first instance register their interest with event organiser Candice Vermeulen – candice@vermeulen.gg.
